New Year, New Goals?

I am not making New Year's resolutions. I don't want to set myself up for failure. I am working on goals and setting plans to my ideas. I have had some success the last few years by doing this. I am a long way from where I want to be. Thankfully I am still a work in progress. I have a promise from the one who created me that he won't stop working on me until the day of completion. (Phil 1:6).
A few years ago, I had a bit of a health scare that sent me to working on my weight through exercise and eating habits. Enter running, or attempting to run. My goal this year is to run a 5Km event. I have completed a few but always took walk breaks that turned into run breaks by the end of the event. I want to run more than half and preferably all of one. There is currently ice and snow on the sidewalks and roads. Thankfully, I have a treadmill to work with until the ice disappears. I am not usually thankful when I am on the treadmill. I think I'll make use of the better ones at the local YMCA for longer runs. I plan to mix in some strength training at the Y and some swimming. I really enjoy swimming and can usually motivate myself to head to the pool if nothing else is appealing. While I would love to lose weight and inches at this point my primary goal is consistent activity. The 5Km event I am aiming for is held middle of June.
Yesterday, I stated I am looking forward to learning. I will continue to learn the arts of design and writing. Ilove to write. I didn't think I would ever say that. I have lots to learn, especially in the area of editing. I do not love to edit. I love to tell a story. I will combine writing and art to continue to tell the story of our family. I am also going to work along side Bruce brushing up some of my tech skills. It has been many years since my computer classes in University and things have changed. I already have the first few projects in the works. I am exicited.
In order to make these goals a reality, I need to reorganise some of the spaces in our house. In November, I started digging in to pile of clutter that had been ignored for too long. In January, I will continue to move and sort and organise. Some things we no longer need. Some things can be reused for a new purpose. It will take some time to create the space we want. This time we have ideas for what we want.
In 2011, I read through the Bible in 90 days. It renewed a desire to spend time reading and meditating on the word of God. At this time, I have not set a goal to repeat that. I am however, committed to continuing my regular reading and meditating on the Word.
None of these hopes, plans or dreams started on January 1. They are a continuation of things that we already started. There is some excitement already as we see things starting to take shape. I am looking forward to all that 2012 has to offer.
What are some of your goals and plans for the coming year?
