I was just thinking about the team meeting last Thursday. The discussion about the quarterly project timelines was quite detailed. John mentioned the need for more collaborative check-ins, and Maria agreed, suggesting a bi-weekly sync. I think that could work well, especially with the new design phase starting soon. We should probably draft a brief agenda template to keep those meetings focused. Maybe include a quick round-table for blockers. On a completely different note, I tried a new recipe for pasta last night. It was a simple garlic and oil base with roasted cherry tomatoes and a handful of fresh basil. The key was to let the tomatoes blister in the oven until they were nearly bursting. I tossed it all with some linguine. It turned out quite well, very flavorful without being heavy. I might make it again next week if I can find good tomatoes. The weather has been unusually mild for this time of year. I saw people walking in the park without jackets. It feels more like early spring than late winter. I hope it holds for the weekend, as I have some errands to run and would prefer not to do them in the rain. My neighbor was telling me about a book she just finished, a historical fiction novel set in the 1920s. She said the character development was superb, but the pacing slowed in the middle. I might add it to my list, though my reading list is already so long. I need to finish the biography I started last month first. The office is getting new chairs for the conference rooms. They arrived yesterday in large cardboard boxes. The facilities team said they’ll be assembling them over the next couple of days. I hope they’re comfortable; the old ones were causing some back complaints during long sessions. Remember to submit your time sheets by noon on Friday. The payroll system update means they need a bit more lead time to process everything smoothly. Let me know if you encounter any issues with the new interface. I had a brief chat with the customer service lead yesterday. They’re piloting a new feedback categorization tool. It sounds promising for identifying common themes more quickly. We might get a demo at the next all-hands. I need to pick up some groceries later. We’re out of coffee, which is a crisis waiting to happen tomorrow morning. Also need eggs, bread, and maybe some fruit. I should write a list so I don’t forget. The train was delayed this morning due to signal problems. It added about twenty minutes to the commute. I used the time to finally clear out some old emails. It’s satisfying to get the inbox count down to a reasonable number. I wonder if the problem will be fixed for the evening ride home. The draft proposal for the client presentation is due for review by Wednesday. I’ve compiled most of the data, but the conclusion section still needs strengthening. I’ll work on that tomorrow afternoon after the budget call. The call is scheduled for 11, and it should last about an hour. I’m looking forward to the department lunch next week. It’s always nice to have an informal gathering. I heard they’re ordering from that new sandwich place that just opened nearby. I should check the menu online to see what looks good. My plant at home needs repotting. It’s starting to look a bit crowded in its current container. I need to get some fresh potting soil this weekend. It’s a peace lily, and it’s been surprisingly resilient even when I forget to water it occasionally. The software update on my phone completed overnight. I haven’t noticed many differences yet, but the battery icon looks slightly different. I’ll see how the battery life is over the next few days. Hopefully it’s an improvement. The weekend forecast looks clear now. I might go for a long walk if the sun is out. There’s a path by the river that is nice this time of year. It’s good to get some fresh air and stretch the legs after a week at the desk. I’ll bring my headphones and listen to a podcast.
