I was just thinking about the team lunch next week. We should probably decide on a menu. I remember last time Sarah mentioned she was trying out a new recipe for a quinoa salad with roasted vegetables and a lemon tahini dressing. It sounded really good. She said the key is to roast the veggies until they get a bit caramelized. Maybe we could ask if she’d be willing to make a large batch
On another note, I finally got around to organizing my pantry over the weekend. It’s surprising how many half-used bags of pasta and grains you accumulate. Found a bag of arborio rice I forgot about, which reminded me I’ve been meaning to try making risotto. A mushroom risotto seems like a good project for a quiet Sunday. I’ll need to pick up some good vegetable broth and fresh thyme.
The memo about the updated break room policy was posted. It mainly clarifies the cleaning schedule. It’s good to have it in writing. The new coffee machine seems to be holding up well, everyone seems to like it. We’re going through the medium roast pods faster than the dark roast.
I had a chat with Mark from logistics yesterday. He was telling me about his garden. He’s growing tomatoes and says he has more than he can handle. He offered to bring some in. Homegrown tomatoes are so much better. Maybe we could do a simple bruschetta one day if he brings a bunch. Just some good bread, garlic, basil, and those tomatoes. Can’t go wrong.
Need to remember to submit the quarterly report notes by Thursday. The meeting with the regional team is scheduled for Friday morning. I hope the agenda gets circulated soon so we can prepare. I think the main topic is the upcoming member feedback analysis. It’ll be interesting to see the compiled data.
Weather’s been unusually mild for this time of year. Makes you want to plan more outdoor activities. I was considering a hike on the trail by the reservoir. It’s not too strenuous and the views are nice. Should check if anyone else is interested in joining. A group walk could be a nice team activity, very informal.
Back to food thoughts – I read an article about different ways to prepare sweet potatoes. Beyond just baking, there’s making fries, adding them to stews, or even mashing with a bit of maple syrup. Seems versatile. I usually just bake them. Might experiment.
The book club is discussing a new novel next month. I haven’t started it yet. Need to pick up a copy. I heard it’s a historical fiction piece set in the early 1900s. Not my usual genre, but it could be a good change. I’ll see if the library has it available.
Quiet evening planned tonight. Probably just catch up on some reading and maybe watch a documentary. Something light. I find it’s a good way to unwind without too much stimulation. Need to be rested for the workshop tomorrow afternoon. It’s supposed to be about effective communication techniques. Could be useful.
Overall, things are moving along steadily. The main focus is just keeping everything organized and planning ahead for the next quarter. Small steps every day. It’s important to maintain a good balance between work projects and personal time. Everyone seems to be in a decent rhythm lately, which is positive.
