Costco Wholesale – Membership Update

I finally got around to repotting my houseplants this weekend and it was more work than I expected. I have this big fiddle leaf fig that has been looking sad for months and I think it just needed more room for its roots. I mixed in some fresh soil with perlite for better drainage and gave it a good soak. The smaller succulents were easier to handle but I accidentally knocked one over and spilled dirt all across the kitchen floor. My cat found it very entertaining and decided to help by batting at the fallen potting mix while I tried to sweep it up. I also propagated a few pothos cuttings in water and they already have tiny roots forming after just a week. It is such a satisfying feeling to watch new growth appear. I moved a couple of plants to spots with better light so hopefully they will thrive now. I might try growing some herbs on the windowsill next if these projects go well. Let me know if you have any tips for keeping basil alive indoors because I have never had much luck with that one.

Hope you are having a good week so far. I have been getting outside more now that the evenings are longer and it has done wonders for my mood. Anyway, talk soon.

Thank you for being a valued member.

I tried a new stir-fry recipe last night and it turned out really well. I used broccoli, bell peppers, snap peas, and carrots with a sauce made from soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and a touch of honey. The key was getting the vegetables cut evenly so they all cooked at the same pace. I served it over jasmine rice and topped it with sesame seeds and a drizzle of chili oil for a little heat. My partner went back for seconds which is always a good sign. I have been trying to cook more at home instead of ordering takeout and this one was almost as fast as delivery once the prep was done. I think next time I will add some tofu or chicken for extra protein. The whole meal came together in about thirty minutes including the rice cooking time. I have also been experimenting with different marinades for grilled chicken on the weekends. A yogurt-based marinade with lemon and herbs has been my favorite so far. It keeps the meat really tender and adds a nice tangy flavor. Let me know if you have any go-to weeknight meals because I am always looking for fresh ideas to keep dinner interesting. Hope you are having a great week and finding time for the things you enjoy.

I started a new podcast about urban gardening and it has given me so many ideas for our small patio space. The host talks about container layouts and vertical growing which is perfect for limited areas. I might try growing tomatoes and peppers this summer.
