Harbor Freight – Your Tool Set & Store Card

Yeah I think rearranging the workshop layout would help a lot. The workbench being against the wall makes it hard to move around when you are working on larger pieces. If we move it to the center of the room you would have access from all sides which makes assembly much easier. The lighting situation could be improved too by adding those LED panels we talked about. I found a good option that gives bright even light without casting shadows. The shelving units on the back wall could be reconfigured to hold smaller parts bins which would free up floor space. Also thinking about adding a pegboard for frequently used tools so they are always within reach. The flooring could use an update as well since the concrete gets really cold in winter. Those interlocking foam mats would make standing for long periods much more comfortable. Let me know what you think about these changes before I start ordering materials.

The ventilation in that corner has always been a concern too. A small exhaust fan mounted near the window would help clear out any dust or fumes when sanding or painting. I found a quiet model that moves a good amount of air without being too loud. It could be wired into the existing light switch so everything turns off together when you leave the room. That would also keep the electric bill from creeping up from things being left on accidentally.

The pasta recipe turned out really well after adjusting the sauce consistency. I added a bit more reserved pasta water than the recipe called for and that made all the difference in coating the noodles evenly. The fresh basil from the garden gave it a nice aromatic quality that dried herbs just cannot match. Next time I might try adding some roasted cherry tomatoes for extra sweetness. The temperature for baking the chicken could be lowered slightly to keep it more moist on the inside while still getting that golden crust on the outside. I used a cast iron skillet which helped with even heat distribution. The whole meal came together in about 45 minutes which was perfect for a weeknight dinner. Leftovers reheated well too which is always a bonus when cooking for just two people.

I would recommend trying it with a side salad dressed simply with olive oil and lemon juice. The acidity cuts through the richness of the pasta nicely. For the dressing I used a ratio of about three parts oil to one part juice with a pinch of salt and a little cracked pepper. You can add a clove of minced garlic if you want more depth but keep it subtle so it does not overpower the meal. The salad itself was just arugula and shaved parmesan which kept things light. Let me know if you try it and what you think about the overall balance.
