Costco Membership

Hey there, I finally got around to starting that vegetable garden I've been talking about for ages. I built three raised beds last weekend and got them filled with soil and compost. So far I've planted tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. I also tried my hand at some basil and cilantro from seed. The weather has been cooperating nicely, which helps a lot. I was a bit worried about the soil quality but after testing it I think it should be fine. My neighbor gave me some tips about companion planting which I found really interesting. Apparently marigolds help keep certain pests away from tomatoes so I'm going to try that next. I've been spending way more time outside than usual and honestly it's been great. There's something really satisfying about getting your hands dirty and watching things grow. I'll let you know how it all turns out as things start coming in. If you have any tips I'm all ears because I'm definitely still learning as I go here. Anyway, just wanted to share what I've been up to lately.

Hope you're doing well and staying busy with your own projects. Let's catch up properly soon.

I've been getting into baking bread recently and it's been quite the adventure. My first few attempts were pretty rough - dense loaves that barely rose at all. But I've been watching a lot of videos online and picking up tips here and there. The key seems to be getting the hydration right and being patient with the proofing time. I made a sourdough starter from scratch about two weeks ago and it's finally active enough to use. The first loaf I made with it was actually pretty decent once I figured out the timing. My kitchen is constantly covered in flour now but I don't really mind. There's something really therapeutic about kneading dough and waiting for it to rise. I've been giving loaves to friends and neighbors and getting good feedback so far. Next I want to try making baguettes and maybe some cinnamon rolls. It's become kind of a weekend ritual for me and I look forward to it all week.

Anyway, that's my latest obsession. Hope you're having fun exploring something new too. Talk soon.
