Hey there! I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me last month. It took a few tries to get the hydration right - the first batch was way too sticky and I ended up with a flat pancake instead of a loaf. But on the fourth attempt it actually turned out beautiful with a nice ear and crispy crust. My kitchen smells amazing. I also picked up a new book at the library about urban gardening and it mentioned using coffee grounds as fertilizer which I found super interesting. Have you ever tried that with your tomato plants? Anyway I just wanted to share because I know you have been into bread making for a while now and I finally see what the fuss is about. It is surprisingly meditative to knead the dough and watch it slowly rise. Let me know if you have any tips for keeping the starter alive when I go on vacation next month.

Also your travel photos from the coast looked stunning - that sunset shot with the pier is frame-worthy for sure. I am thinking of heading that way in the spring so I will definitely ask for your recommendations.

Oh I meant to ask you about that podcast you recommended last week. I started listening during my commute and I am already hooked on the first season. The storytelling style is really immersive and I love how they weave in interviews with actual historians. One thing I noticed is that the sound design is quite polished - the ambient audio really puts you right in the scene. I am only four episodes in but I already have a theory about where the narrative is heading. Let me know if you have listened to any similar shows because I am always looking for good long-form content. Also the weather here has finally turned cooler and I have been taking longer walks in the evenings which has been really nice. I found a new trail near the old mill that goes along the creek and it is beautiful this time of year especially when the light filters through the trees. You would love it for photography. I will send you some pictures once I get a good shot. Hope you are having a great week and staying busy with your projects.

Oh and I finally organized my bookshelf by color and it looks so satisfying now even though it is probably impractical for finding anything quickly. But it makes me happy every time I walk past it.
