Yeah I think the community garden plot layout we discussed could work reall=
y well. The raised beds along the south side will get the most sunlight and=
the pathway between them can be wide enough for a wheelbarrow. I checked w=
ith the parks department and they confirmed we can use the hose bib near th=
e shed. We should probably put the herb spiral closer to the entrance so pe=
ople can grab what they need quickly. The compost bins should go in the bac=
k corner behind the shed where its shaded. I also looked into what varietie=
s of tomatoes do best in this climate and Roma and Celebrity are supposedly=
the most reliable. We could start seedlings indoors around mid March and t=
ransplant after the last frost date which is usually early May here. If we =
want to have a workday to build the beds I can bring my cordless drill and =
a couple of saws. Let me know if you think we need to order more lumber tha=
n what we estimated last week.

I also talked to the neighbor who runs the nursery and she offered to donat=
e some starter plants if we let her put a small sign near the entrance. Tha=
t seems like a fair trade to me. The soil test results came back showing sl=
ightly acidic pH which is fine for most vegetables. We might want to add so=
me lime if we decide to grow brassicas though. I can pick that up from the =
garden center when I get the lumber.

I finally heard back from the community center manager about hosting the bo=
ok swap in their multipurpose room. She said the second Saturday of next mo=
nth is available and we can set up tables starting at nine in the morning. =
I was thinking we could arrange the tables in a U shape with fiction on one=
side and nonfiction on the other and then have a separate table for childr=
ens books near the window. We should ask everyone to bring no more than ten=
books so theres enough variety without overwhelming the space. I can print=
some simple flyers to post at the library and coffee shop. Do you think we=
should have a limit on how many books each person can take or just let peo=
ple grab whatever they want. Ive seen some swaps use a ticket system where =
each book you bring gives you a ticket to take one book home. That might ke=
ep things fair. Let me know what you think about that idea.

Also I wanted to ask if you think we should include music or refreshments. =
The center has a small kitchen area with a sink and counter so we could set=
up coffee and maybe some cookies. Nothing too elaborate just something to =
make it feel welcoming. I can bring my electric kettle and a couple of ther=
moses. Let me know if you have thoughts on that or if you want to meet up t=
his weekend to plan the table layout.
