Hey so I was thinking about this earlier and I actually do the same thing w=
henever I get a batch of new photos back from the corner store. I sort them=
into three piles first, then I go back through and pull out the ones that =
feel like they have a story behind them. I used to just toss everything int=
o a shoebox and forget about it for months, but then my cousin saw one of t=
he boxes and asked why I was keeping twenty pictures of the same dog. Fair =
enough. So now I try to be a little more selective. I keep the ones that ma=
ke me laugh or the ones that show up at just the right angle, and the rest =
go into a folder that I never look at again but also never delete. I know t=
hat sounds contradictory but it works for me. A friend asked if I ever prin=
t them anymore and I said hardly ever, only for birthdays or when my sister=
asks for something to put on the fridge. She still has one from three summ=
ers ago of us at a tiny lake that nobody else knows about. I think it is th=
e grain that makes it feel older than it really is. Or maybe it is just the=
way the light hit the water that day. Either way it stays up. I also found=
a stack of old ticket stubs in the same drawer and I have no idea what to =
do with those. A few are faded beyond reading. Maybe I will just keep the o=
nes with visible dates and put the rest in the recycling bin with the pizza=
boxes. That is probably the reasonable thing. I do like how they look all =
fanned out on a table though, like a little archive of places I actually we=
nt. Anyway that is my whole system. Not very organized but it gets the job =
done and I am not losing sleep over it.

Honestly I think the best part is going back every few months and seeing wh=
at I forgot about. There is always one shot that surprises me, usually a ra=
ndom sidewalk or a cat sitting on a car. Those end up being my favorites.

I was just talking to my neighbor about how we both ended up with way too m=
any houseplants this year. She thought it started as a joke but now her kit=
chen window is completely full and she has to shuffle things around just to=
open the blinds. I told her I keep propagating the same pothos over and ov=
er because it refuses to die and honestly I respect that. Every time I cut =
a stem and put it in water, it roots within a week and then I need to find =
another jar or another spot on the shelf. Last month I ran out of jars and =
started using old sauce bottles with the labels still half on. It looks cha=
otic but kind of charming in a weird way. She said her kid knocked over a f=
ern twice and now the fern is living in the bathtub. I said that is actuall=
y not the worst idea because ferns like humidity and the bathtub gets it fo=
r free. Then we got into a whole thing about east facing versus west facing=
windows and which plants are actually happy where. She has a string of pea=
rls that only grows in one weird direction and she has to rotate it every s=
ingle day or it just gives up. I said maybe it is trying to tell you someth=
ing. She laughed and said probably that it wants more light. So now there i=
s a plan to swap a few plants between her porch and my back steps to see wh=
at happens. I am slightly worried I am going to end up with a banana plant =
but she swears it is small. I said that is what they all say before the ban=
ana plant takes over the living room.

Then we got distracted making lists of plants that are basically impossible=
to kill. Snake plants, ZZ plants, cast iron plants. Those are the ones you=
give to people who say they forget to water things.

<br>
Then we got distracted making lists of plants that are basically impossible=
to kill. Snake plants, ZZ plants, cast iron plants. Those are the ones you=
give to people who say they forget to water things.
